Midwifery Support – with Sophie

Registered midwife of 4 years and founder of Babymoon.

Sophie’s career as a midwife has taken her in a variety of settings including low risk and high risk birth settings, but her passion lies with continuity of care. Sophie loved caring for a caseload of women and getting to know them throughout their pregnancy and being able to be a part of their journey to parenthood was an absolute privilege.

Sophie continues to work clinically on an ad hoc basis in order to keep her clinical skills up to date and she also offers a variety of private services to help parents feel empowered and knowledgable going into their birth.

Sophie is currently undertaking her Masters in Midwifery so it’s extremely important to her that all information provided is evidence based.

Please note that Sophie cannot advise you on what to do during your pregnancy and this is not intended to replace your regular care pathway. Sophie can only provide you with information to support you in your decision making.

Sessions can be done at Babymoon in our consultation room or over zoom.

  • Pregnancy and birth can be unpredictable and this is why it is key to have the knowledge beforehand to feel empowered in your choices. This 1-2-1 education session is completely tailored for you.

Before the session, we can book in a quick phone call so that I can understand how you have found your pregnancy, what questions or concerns you have and what you would like to learn about. It is completely flexible dependent on you though I would advise that in 2 hours we can cover birth and feeding your newborn, whereas in the 4 hour session we can cover birth, feeding and newborn care.

As well as the session, you will be provided with a personal resource that you can use to refresh your memory or guide your birth planning. Your birth partner is welcome to these sessions.

Or maybe you have been told that you’re not suitable for your intended birth place but you don’t know what your options are.

Unfortunately there are often occasions where parents don’t have the opportunity to ask questions or become informed during their appointments.

We can use this hour to go over anything you like, I will ask beforehand what you would like to discuss so that I can be prepared on current guidance and the most recent evidence available. Alternatively, we can also use this session to discuss your birth preferences as there are often more options available to you then you know.
